Through contract production, Specialty Grains, Inc. (SGI) provides High-Amylose corn, Yellow Waxy corn, White Waxy corn, and Hard Endosperm corn varieties to its clients, preserving the identity of its sources for the non-GMO grain. The tough standard for quality, placed on corn to be processed for human consumption and specialized industrial uses, are the cornerstone of our business. Before contracting with growers, SGI ensures that each grower has qualified storage facilities to ensure low-temperature drying. This leads to better germination and less kernel cracking due to stress-both which mean a higher-quality grain is produced for the client.

Growers for Specialty Grains are carefully selected for their close attention to detail. Throughout the growing and harvesting process, SGI conducts field and bin inspections to maintain the high quality that is expected for human consumption. Specialty Grains' growers produce the specialty corn or soybean product in as controlled environment as possible following industry-leading standards to prevent cross-pollination and -germination. By using high quality throughout the growing process and our state-of-the-art processing and shipping methods, we can achieve the specifications for pure varieties and the physical standards which our clients demand.

Producers contracting with SGI are quality-oriented, not necessarily driven by quantity. Growers find value in the growth of Yellow Waxy or White Waxy corn, High-Amylose corn or Hard Endosperm corn, dedicating a portion of their resources to the production of non-GMO varieties for SGI. Contracts are offered selectively, and if the quality does not meet Specialty Grains' high standard for non-GMO products, the contract is not renewed. We are proud to announce that many of the grains (high-amylose corn, yellow waxy corn, white waxy corn, and hard endosperm corn) are grown by farmers who have been under contract with Specialty Grains since 1976, when the company began. Our network of farmers devoted to non-GMO grain continues to make Specialty Grains an industry leader.
